The South California chapter of SUTA hosted its chapter meeting on Saturday April 24th in Newport Beach, California. This event was co-hosted by Persian American Cancer Institute (PACI) whose mission is to create awareness in the Iranian community about this disease and provide help and support to the patients. PACI provided free DNA test for the attendees of this event hoping that a match for Mona Zarei (a Sharif graduate cancer patient living in the US) and other patients will be found.
Dr. Jalil Kamali, SUTA’s president, attended this event and spoke about SUTA , its activities, and upcoming reunion in Sweden. Dr. Charles Sadler (founders of PACI), and his wife, Mrs. Hoori Sadler , Chief Executive Officer of PCI, delivered speeches on PACI and how it provides service to the Persian community. Dr. Soheila Kamali presented her ideas on networking among Sharif graduates living in South California. This program is hosted by Dr. Fredun Hojabri, founder of SUTA, who lives in San Diego. At this meeting the following message from Mona Zarei was read.
Dear SUTA members, I am honored to be a member of such an intellectual association. As a graduate of Sharif University of technology, I have many great memories of this fabulous university and its nourishing environment. I am thankful that achievers like yourself who could develop great successes in Iran and out of the country, care about me and have a great interest in my health condition. I cannot hold my tears or even use any word that can properly express how appreciative I am, that such great people are concerned about my life and put a great deal of effort, which gives me hope to fight on through this difficult phase of my life. Thank you so much. Mona Zarei
SUTA’s Board of Directors would like to thank the South California Chapter and PACI for this program and wish a recovery for Mona and other victims of this terrible disease. |
