SUTA’s Dr. Mojtahedi’s Innovation Award Ceremony
Dr. Saeed Sohrabpour, SUT President, Dr. Abolhassan Vafaei, head of SUT International Office, and Eng. Bayati of SUT management, were special guests at this event. Farrokh Malihi, Foroozandeh Tabibi, and Farzin Radkani, members of SUTA’s Board of Directors organized this year's ceremony. In his opening remarks, Dr. Sohrabpour thanked board of SUTA for this initiative and remembered Dr. Mojtahedi as his teacher, high school principal, founder and first president of Sharif University of Technology. He highlighted significant increase in the number of publications and funding for research at Sharif University. Dr. Sohrabpour encouraged all alumni of Sharif University to stay in touch with SUT, get involved with educational and research programs, and contribute to the advancement of the university.
Overall 48 projects from four departments were submitted for this year's program. This included 17 projects from Electrical Engineering, 8 projects from Chemical Engineering, 9 projects from Chemistry, and 12 projects from Materials Engineering departments. All projects were peer reviewed by a scientific advisory board including faculty members of each department and SUT alumni who are currently involved in academic or industrial research at international organizations. Three projects from each department were selected based on an evaluation criteria developed for this program. Details of the project title, project leader, and co-workers for each of the top 12 projects from the above mentioned departments are presented in the attached list. Each of these projects received an award plaque, certificates for all members of the project, and a special gift (DVD on Ancient Persians Art & Technology). Top projects for 2010 SUTA’s Dr. Mojtahedi’s Innovation Award Program are presented in the following. Each of these projects received a $1000 cash prize, a plaque, and certificates for all members of the project. Congratulations to All!
